Wildlife Benefits at the Hands of Volunteers. Several local Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation members volunteered for Idaho Fish and Game to improve the Larabee Meadows area for big game species by thinning lodgepole pine that have encroached into the meadow. Larabee Meadows is located on IDFG’s Craig Mountain Wildlife Management Area south of Lewiston.


The YWCA annual school supply distribution (PDF) will be on Thursday, August 24. Last year we gave school supplies to 394 children in the L-C Valley and 301 children in Lapwai. We are now accepting donations for this year. Please find time in your busy lives and money in your budgets to make a donation of school supplies. All donations can be dropped of at the YWCA, 300 Main St., in Lewiston.


Entry forms are now available for the 2005 Lewiston Roundup Parade. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, September 10th in downtown Lewiston at 1:29pm. This year's theme is "How the West was Fun". Parade applications are available online at www.lewistonroundup.com/paradeform.html


The Lewiston School District registration dates for all secondary students entering Grades 7-12 are set for August 15, 16 and 17, 2006. See the schedule(PDF) for your school. School administrators request that junior high school students entering grades 7-9 be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the time of registration. For more information, please contact the Central Services Office at 748-3000, or the school where your child will be attending.


COME ONE, COME ALL!!!!! Our AmeriCorps member’s (Beth Asker and Jonathan Teng) are doing their service project, a fundraiser for CARE for KIDS. They are hosting a Spaghetti Feed here in Lewiston on August 10th from 6-8pm in Pioneer Park. Tickets are being sold at CAP or CARE for KIDS.

Your help is needed to assist the Idaho Foodbank Lewiston Facility with a new "Backpacks for Kids" program. . This program will provide food to children in need, identified by their schools they attend.


The Clarkston Chamber and the Hells Canyon Visitor Association is looking for volunteers to work on Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (in 3 hours shifts) during the summer. This will run through the end of September. If you or someone you know is interested please call the Chamber office at (509) 758-7712.


The Regional Alcohol/Drug Awareness Resource Network Center (RADAR) has media available to lend. Available are posters, printed material, videos, and classroom materials targeted toward prevention and treatment of drug and alcohol abuse. The only cost is postage.


Interlink Volunteers has an ongoing need for volunteer help throughout the community. A variety of skills and interests are needed on a regular basis. Contact Interlink Volunteers if you can help with any of these tasks.


The Clarkston Farmers Market is gearing up for the summer and we are looking for additional vendors. The Clarkston Farmer's Market will start in June and run through September, and will be held in the parking lot adjacent to the Twin River National Bank on 5th Street. The Lewis-Clark Senior Nutrition Program needs drivers to help deliver meals to homebound senior citizens during the week. The hours are from 10:15 a.m. until noon and people can volunteer to deliver meals from one to five days a week. All drivers will receive mileage reimbursement, volunteer credit hours and a meal. Lewis-Clark Service Corps at Lewis-Clark State College is seeking host agencies from anywhere in Idaho interested in hosting an AmeriCorps member for the upcoming program year beginning Sept. 1, 2006.


Now finding volunteers is as simple as logging on to the Internet. The LCSC Community Warriors Volunteer Center has launched its easy-to-use Web site. By logging on to www.lcsc.edu/americorps, community agencies and organizations can request volunteers for upcoming openings. Visitors to the Web site can also view current volunteer openings, report their hours, and register to volunteer.
