Lewiston Levee Ponds

Lewiston Levee Ponds

The levee ponds behind the dike along the Clearwater River upstream from its confluence with the Snake River have become a stop over for medium sized populations of migratory water fowl. They are also home to resident populations of Canada Geese and Mallard Ducks. Winter is an excellent time to get close up views of small groups of Pin Tails, Wood Ducks, Coots, Bufflehead and other migratory fowl. Wood ducks have nested successfully in the area. The ponds can be accessed by the Dike By-pass Road and from the Clearwater and Snake River National Trail.
